Apollo Green Energy Set to Begin Construction on Kerala’s Largest Floating Solar Project at West Kallada
Publish Date :
Apollo Green Energy Limited (AGEL) edging into construction on Kerala’s largest floating solar project at West Kallada Reservoir:
The project is being developed on ~297 acres across the Mundakapadam and Patanjire Kallada Panchayats in Kerala.
Capacity: 65 MW floating solar installation with over 1 lakh solar panels on advanced floating platforms that adapt to water-level changes.
Power will be sold to Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) at a tariff of ₹ 3.04 per unit under a long-term agreement.
Project highlights: dual-use of the reservoir, land conservation, reduced evaporation and improved panel efficiency via natural cooling.
Community-inclusive: Local panchayats and farmers have leased land, and there’s a compensation framework.
AGEL’s broader strategy: This project adds to its utility-scale solar, wind, hybrid, storage and green hydrogen portfolio, aligning with India’s 500 GW+ renewables target by 2030.
