In this regard, a shareholder agreement was signed on April 13, 2011, between State Bank of India (SBI) and Amundi Asset Management, whereby SBI currently retains a 63% stake in SBI Mutual Fund, and Amundi Asset Management holds the remaining 37% stake via their wholly-owned subsidiary, Amundi India Holding.
It is noteworthy that Societe Generale Asset Management S.A. (“SGAM”), a subsidiary of Societe Generale S.A (“SG”) originally held this 37% stake, which was later transferred to Amundi in June 2011 with the requisite approval of SEBI under the SEBI (Mutual Funds) Regulations, 1996. SBI & Amundi Asset Management shall jointly develop the Company as an asset management company of international repute by adopting global best practices and maintaining international standards.
The Company has incorporated a wholly owned subsidiary namely, SBI Funds International (IFSC) Limited on February 07, 2024 in GIFT City - Gandhinagar.
